Notes for William Ferrand (born BUSFEILD)
Born Busfield.  Lived at St Ives, Bingley, Yorks (now a golf club) and Morland Hall, Westmorland (did he build it? Probaly not, one note said it was rented. Possibly rented from a family of Atkinsons whose dau. ma a Ricketts descendant, by then with name changed to Parker-Jervis).

Changed his name and arms to those of Ferrand by Royal Licence on 18th March 1890 - Noticed in the London Gazette at that time:

A newspaper cutting with the handwritten note of "March 1890":

"The London Gazette announces that Mr William Ferrand of St Ives and Harden Grange, Bingley, has received Royal Licence for himself and his heirs, in compliance with a clause in the will of his uncle the late Mr W Ferrand, to take the surname of Ferrand in lieu of that of Busfeild and to bear the arms of Ferrand."

In the Ferrand will case, his uncle was then reported as having an income of £9,000 pa...!

In the 1901 census he was living with his family at St Ives, Bingley, Yorks, aged 63, born  at Bradford, Yorks and living on own means.

In the 1901 census his total household was reported as:
