In the 1901 census she was living with her family at Upton Cottage, Old Alresford, Hants, aged 42, born in Corfu, Ionian Islands (marked as Turkey).

In the 1871 census she was with her mother at 48 Devonshire st, Portland Place, Marylebone, London, aged 12, the eldest, a scholar and born in Corfu.

Nov 2007, TFPL: I have just realised that her birth is on the ‘GRO Ionian Islands Military Register of Births’ page 36, probably volume 5, page 62 (thanks to FamilyRelatives.com).  I need to order her birth certificate.

In 1881 she was with her maternal uncle and aunt in Elstead, Surrey, Charlotte Jephson, née Baynes, and Charles Baynes.

HALLIFAX Charlotte Annie of The Old House Bradfield Berkshire widow died 8 October 1943 Probate Llandudno 16 March [1944] to Muriel Ferrand married woman and Richard Hill solicitor.
Effects £33794 13s 10d.

Muriel was her eldest daughter and my grandmother.  At that time she was very separated from her husband so was not living as ‘wife’; I think this is why the usual text of ‘wife of ...’ was not used.
