Notes for Edward Pelly Woodman
In 1881 he was aged 26, b. in East Lovant, Sussex, an undergraduate of Oxford and living with his parents at the Rectory, Spetisbury, Dorset.
Thee is an Edward Woodman birth on FreeBMD in Q4 of 1855 at Malmesbury, but I don’t think this is him as it does not agree with the 1881 census.
In the 1891 census, he was living on his own means at Down House, Compton, Shawford, Nr Andover, Hants with his wife, son and widowed mother Emma B Woodman aged 62 and born in Pendrethide, Dorset. He was 36 and born in Lavant, Sussex. They had 6 staff in the house.
In the 1901 census he and Emily were staying at the Mandeville Hotel, Marylebone, London (possibly complete with a lady’s maid in attendance). He was 48, b. in Lavant, Sussex and living on own means; she was 33, born in Bingley and also living on own means.
_______________________________________________
In 1851 he was aged 16, born at Havant, Hants and a pupil at Rossall College, Lancs with the following possible brothers:
James Alfred Woodman, aged 17 and b, in Havant, Hants
John Bridge Woodman, aged 18 and born in East Malling(?), Kent
Notes for Edward Pelly & Emily Mary (Family)
FreeBMD has a marriage for Edward Pelly Woodman in West Ward, Westmorland in Q2 of 1887. But his apparent bride, on the same page as EPW, is Alice Mary Southwell, which just has to be wrong. Vol 10b, p. 995. But I can’t find an entry for Emily Mary Busfeild at all.
