Her forename was found from the 1881 census and this enabled the 4 couples on the marriage register page to give her maiden name as Palmer, thereby confounding some elegant reasoning why Palmer could not possibly be her maiden name! See JSW’s Notes.

The marriage records on FreeBMD allowed me to deduce that ‘Emma B’ of the 1881 census was in fact ‘Emma Bridge Palmer’.
