BurialVault of Berwick Chapel, (Salop?)
GeneralOf Shrewsbury. Purchased Berwyke.
Notes for Thomas Powys
Purchased Berwyke from Edward Hosier on 26 Feb 1728 for 10050 li.
Note that this was just over a year after his wife Bridget had received a substantial legacy from her brother Edward. My thought is that this provided the funds to buy Berwick.

TFPL, Oct 2016: In the papers of Powys of Berwick House at the Warwick Record Office, there is this correspondence to Henry Powys, one of his executors:
“Henry Powys esq.: correspondence and court papers in the lawsuit brought by Sir John Astley Bt. and Dame Mary his wife v. Henry Powys esq., Mary Baldwin spinster, John Powys esq. and Edward Elisha gent, executors of Thomas Powys esq. deceased, Edward Powys and Thomas Jelf Powys his son, an infant, and others concerning a dispute over the will of Jonathan Langley and the disposition of sums of £1,440 and £1000.”
This indicates that The Baldwins were involved in this family of Powys of Berwick and that both the will of Thomas Powys, deceased, and these papers could do with examination to give more infomation on this marriage and perhaps lead to some hints as to the parentage of Thomas Powys.
