This English birth looks strongly like hers, in contrast to the Irish birth I was expecting:

Curiously, and I have told them, the new index omits the mother’s maiden surname; it is given on the old index page as ‘Keight’.
So what can I now find for a marriage of McDermott and Keight, said to have been in Ireland.
The answer remain nothing, including, as expected due to their laws, on the Irish web-site.

In 1939 she was with her parents and a grandmother at 235 St John's Road, Cannock, Staffordshire (and in 1959 Peggy’s daughter Julie was born to this house):

She was only on two public records with her McDermott surname, a remarkable achievement. One was the 1939 Register which had been updated on her marriage in sometime after 1950.

The previous assertion is now being trashed. In 1956 she went out to Singapore as Eunice Peggy Eccleston. And three years later in 1959 she came back from Singapore with a child and having become Peggy McDermott.
First the outward voyage from Southampton:
On S.S. “CANTON”, a P&O vessel, departed on 27th April 1956:

The date of birth confirms that this was her and she must have been something special to travel 1st class for a job as a Compt. Operator.
Her mother died 3 to 5 months after she left, she could not have got back for that.

I surmise that she married in Singapore, which explains why her marriage was not found in England and it might also appear that it was not either in Ireland.
Finally No 235 St Johns Road gets another mention.

On 25 Jul 1959 she gave birth to Julie in Cannock which she registered on 19th August 1959.
On 29th Sept 1959 she arrived in London with her son John from Singapore.
I cannot work it out.
