TFPL, July 2021: These opening paragraphs indicate that I had severe problems discovering which record was the precise one for these people.  The problems were both that it possible for two different people to have the same names and second that many index records show only the initials for second and subsequent forenames.  A further problem can be that people change the names they are known by as their years pass.  I leave in these paragraphs so that you can see the story unfold.  At the end you can see that I now have what I hope to be the actuals records that belong to Julie, the co-grandparent of our only grandson.

I cannot find an unambiguous record of her birth.  All that has been found so far is her birth date, of 25 Jul 1959, on her death certificate.

There are 2 people born in England and Wales with the precise name of Julie McDermott in 1959 exactly; there are four further people born in that year with an additional forename letter.  So I cannot identify her birth and it may have been abroad.  Her marriage certificate would identify her father and give confirmation of her age at marriage; this has now been obtained.

Registrations are supposed to be done with two months of birth (or so, not sure).  Her birth was in Q3 so she should have been registered by the 25th September which is still in Q3, but could also have got delayed to Q4.  This reduces the candidates to certainly three and possibly 5.

If she was born where she died, in Staffs, this reduces the candidates to 1.  It might even be worth getting that birth certificate as it would give the full names of both parents and all this information might strike a resonant chord somewhere, or not.

But even if her name is discovered, the marriage of Julie’s parents is thought to have been in Ireland.  No information can be obtained about marriages there until seventy-five years after the event.  If they got married in 1955, it will not be until 2030 or 2031 that the marriage details can be revealed or obtained.

Eccleston(e) has been confirmed for Julie’s mother’s maiden name,  The details for Julie’s birth registration index are:

Their marriage certificate is needed to provide the names of their fathers and give a firm steer to their birth dates.

No birth record can be found for Julie McDermott.  I have not searched the Scottish records and I cannot access the Irish records until 100 years after her birth.

While Christopher J Knight’s probable birth records says his mother’s maiden name was turner, this turns up thirty Knight-Turner marriages within a few years of his possible birth year and with no means of finding which is that for his parents.  His birth certificate would also give the name of both his parents.
