His father was Sir Robert Hudson Borwick, who had been knighted in 1902, became a baronet in 1916 and then a baron in 1922 as Lord Borwick of Hawkshead.  The baronetcy and barony was inherited by his eldest son George, b. 1880, in 1936 when his father died; George died sp in 1938, to be succeeded by his young brother this Robert Geoffrey.

In the Birthday Honours list of 3 June 1922, there was this announcement in the London Gazette:

  Senior Partner in the firm of George Borwick & Sons, Ltd.  Rendered great service to the Government in providing hospital treatment for the sick and wounded Colonial officers throughout the war.  A large contributor to the Officers’ Families Fund, and a generous supporter of the Red Cross Society.  J.P. for the County of London since 1895. A Knight of Grace of the Order of St John of Jerusalem.

Robert Geoffrey is on the Imperial War Museum as being a temporary Lieutenant with the Royal Artillery in WW1.  This records that he was born on 1 Jul 1886.

In the 1901 census he was a scholar at Eton.
