He succeeded to the title when his father died in 1961 and then died without male heirs in 2007. Fortunately his father had married again and had two sons of whom the first dsp but the second had two sons who between them had five sons, all of whom are potential heirs to the barony, so it looks like it won’t expire any time soon, much as the role has expired.
