Notes for Christopher Henry Maxwell Holmes
In his will he named his wife, Serena Margaret Holmes, left her all his estate and Lloyds Bank renounced the executorship of his will and the probate office appointed his wife as the sole executor.
This is evidence enough that they were husband and wife, even though no marriage information can be found for this.
The special extra is that their children were given the surname of Holmes and the mother’s maiden name of Stopford and I have not thought it necessary to pay for their birth certificates to expand on this. Curiously neither he nor his wife mentioned their children’s names in their wills.
So he has been added to this database. Their children have the asset of being twice descended from Powyses, quite unlike the large majority of Powyses who have only one such line of descent.

Yes it did, see the reasoning in his Notes section.
In his will dated thirty-first of August One thousand Nine hundred and Sixty-five he appointed Lloyds Bank as his executors. This the bank then renounced, possibly because his relatively small estate would not produce enough fees to cover their costs. So his wife Serena was appointed to execute his will in their stead by the probate office.
Provided his wife survived him, he left everything to her and she was named as “my Wife Serena Margaret Holmes”.
If she did not survive him, his children were to inherit. But he did not name his children at all. Nor did his wife in her will. So we can only identify their children by their birth records on the General Record Office files. Luckily these child records correspond with the information provided by Burke from sources unknown.
