In a search for Stopford births with a mother’s maiden name of Williams, only the English birth showed up. This was because the Overseas births indices do not include the mother’s maiden name.
There three Stopford births in Gernamny were initially found by searching for the child’s first and surnames as given in BP. Then it was found that they were all on the one index sheet that covered all army birth returns from 1946 to 1950 and that these were the only Stopford birth on that sheet full stop.
