On the Passenger list for the ship “John Lykes” in March 1945, there is the note for her that “US PP # 2846 issued Manila 4/5/41” where ‘US PP’ stands for ‘United States Passport’.  I think this adequately establishes she was of USA birth and nationality.

Presumably her children got their USA nationality from her.  Might they have had some form of ‘consular[‘ registration too?
