In 1871 he was transcribed as Hopford and only found because they had their daughter staying with them and her married name was Kennedy.  See her entry.

Getting together their children from public records is going to be difficult as there were two marriages between a male Stopford and a female Wilbrahim, on in 1840 and one in 1843, so their children overlap.

The way to disentangle this is to identify the couple who married in 1843 and then see what children the had in the 1851 and 1861 censuses.

The other couple were Robert Fanshawe Stopford and one of Emily Anne Wilbraham, Elspet Pringle, Louisa Shirley, Ellen Watson

But there was no sign of Robert F in 1851.  Though in 1871 there was a Robert F and wife Lucy H with children born in these years:

Forename      Birth  Sex
Emily M       1847    F
Mary L        1855    F
Francis J     1858    M
Henrietta J   1860    F
Eleanor Anna  1863    F

But this got me nowhere!

So I tried to select baptisms between 1840 and 1860 with Parents names of Edward and Julia from Ancestry and this produced:

Bapt          Birth        Name           Parents                Father’s job    Where
26 Jan 1842   3 Nov 1841   Henry Edward   Edward & Julia Maria   Capt R.N.       St Geo, Han Sq
15 Jul 1843  17 Jun 1843   Edith Louisa   Edward & Julia Maria   Commander R.N.  Harpenden, Herts
5 Jun 1845  15 Mar 1845   Grosvenor      Edward & Julia Maria   Capt R.N.       St Geo Han Sq

And that was all - and exactly agreed with the births reported in Burke’s peerage.

It would have been better if Edith’s baptism had an image of the register/BT.  But one was found on FindMyPast for a change, though only if you used the Hertfordshire data set, not if you used the All England or the data copied from Family Search.

Almost certainly he will have given it all to his wife.  So not ordered.
