In 1911 she was still with Louisa and Louisa’s now 9 children at 8 Boulton Street, Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshir.
There was another Martha Knight with her husband Thomas living not far away and also in Hanley but born a year earlier; she was born in 1843 in Morton Wood, Shropshire. Her husband was a bit younger and born in c.1851 in John St, Stoke on Trent. This Martha then died in the same year as the subject of this study leading to confusion of which death was whose.

“This marriage was solemnised between us: John Knight his X mark
“ Martha Platt her X mark
“In the presence of us: Abraham Dutton, Martha Bryan
Note that one of the witnesses was Martha Bryan; this is the same surname as Martha’s mother’s maiden name at Marth’s birth registration. It adds to the proposal that Marth’s mother, Louisa, was in fact a Bryan and not at Byan, as given at her, the mother’s, marriage. That said this witness Martha Bryan is looking strongly to be a relation.
A confirmation that this was her is that Martha gave her age as 24. If her birth registration is to be believed, she was born in either !4 of 1844 or Q1 of 1845 and so her age would indeed have been 24.
