An Ancestry family tree says he had a few generations of descendants, some living now (2021).  It will be interesting to see where I get to on this. It might lead to someone with whom I can discuss the 19th cent Eccleston ancestry.  The first undisclosed, because they are alive, descendant is one of their living sons.  But the three children on the 1939 register, two are boys whose details are revealed because they had died when this register was published and the third was a girl who, as the second child and by the just visible descender in her name for ‘j’, has to be Marjorie and thus female.  So the unrevealed descendant was born after the 1939 Register was taken, only four to research.  And then I must find their Eccleston daughter as the Ancestry chart shows the last person on this line to be female.  Later: I found that this son of Eddie Ernest married a Gittings, daur of William and Harriet, née Thomas, Gittings.

This gave a null response for the sons of Eddie and Doris, so I tried to see if there was any marriage of any Eccleston and any Gittings.  This produced a marriage in 1952 of William F Eccleston to June E Gittings.  I had ruled this out because I considered that William F’s appearance on the 1939 register meant that by 2005 or so he was dead, so would not be excluded under Ancestry’s policies.

Back to a different drawing board, but with more vigour!

From a search for Eccleston births with a Bagshaw mother it looks like they had seven children, the first three of whom were in the 1939 register:

Last name  First name(s)  Year Of Birth  Year Of Death  Year  Location
Eccleston  William F      1928           —              1928  Cannock, Staffordshire
Eccleston  Marjorie       1933           —              1933  Cannock, Staffordshire
Eccleston  Kenneth D      1936           —              1936  Walsall, Staffordshire
Eccleston  Paul           1939           —              1939  Walsall, Staffordshire
Eccleston  Roy            1945           —              1945  Cannock, Staffordshire
Eccleston  Lilian S       1947           —              1947  Cannock, Staffordshire
Eccleston  David D        1952           —              1952  Stafford, Staffordshire,

There is a chance that the last three belonged to another marriage, so I’ve looked for all the Eccleston-Bagshaw marriages and found that there was no other such marriage in Staffs from theirs in 1928 onwards.  So I think they must have had all seven children.  Doris would have been 43 when she had David G.

There was one marriage in Lancs in 1919 but they would have been unlikely to breed in 1945-7.
