On his gravestone his name was transcribed as ‘Charles Quinius Ames’. My view of the photograph is that the second name is ‘Quintus’ which is very likely as this is Latin for five and he was the fifth child. The third name is less certain: in the above index it is just the initial J; might the J have prefixed the ‘AMES’ and been James? The birth certificate might resolve this, but it may have been a family practice to call him Ames.
His dates on the memorial stone are: 8 Sep 1989 - 21 Jul 1997.
His probate index confirms both my assertions on his name and his death date.
I have been able to edit the entry on the BillionGraves site.
