Deathca Feb 1488
General1st s. Of Fingalton.
Notes for Sir Robert Hamilton
In 1453 he went to Rome with James, Lord Hamilton on a pilgrimage.
Involved in l=various bits of local governing in Scotland.
He and Marioun had: Robert, John, James (of Airdrie), Patrick, William, Elizabeth (or Gelis).
George Hamilton in his “The House of Hamilton” considers that Sir John of Hamilton, lord of Fingalton b.c.1337 and d.c.1402 is the earlist recorded ancestor of this Robert and was the great grandfather of this Robert. The account of the preceding three generations has many insertions of ‘stated’ where no evidence has survived so it is probably not profitable to include them.
