The later work to the four references previously found, the House of Hamilton, says that his name was James, third son of Sir Robert Hamilton of Preston. Further Geo Hamilton has this as the Grandfather Robert of the one identified as the father by Robertson. (Geo H is later so gets the prize of being believed.)
