In 1939 he is not to be found.  But there is another family of Whiteway-Wilkinsons, William, Mary and two children in Newton Abbot.  William was the “Managing Director of a firm producing Potters Ball clay for Export and Home Consumption”.  This make better sense of Reginald being a clay merchant as he might have been working for a brother, or relation, in selling the Potter’s Ball Clay under commission.
