His parents were Thomas and Charlotte (both Haig) of Bonnington, Edinburgh.
On the British Boundary Commission to determine boundary of Canada & USA.
in 1871 he said he was still on the Active List (ie not on half pay).
He appears in Burke’s LG of 1914 as being a cadet branch of the Bermerside, Berwicks family and I have taken some of the detailed dates from there.
