In the 1881 census he was aged 15 and a scholar at Wellington College, Sandhurst, Berks.
In 1884, he was appoiinted Lieut in Indian Staff Corps from being a Gent cadet at Sandhurst. (London Gazette).
March Pursuivant herald to Lyon office: 1923; Albany herald 1926, resigned 1 Apr 1935 through ill-health.
The Times also reports that he had been Professor of Oriental languages at Dublin University and Lecturer in Persian at London University. He was British Consul-general in Persia.
He has a Wikipedia article which says he is in Who Was Who. I wonder if he is in ODNB?
