Notes for (Sir) Robert Hamilton Bart
Arbuthnot papers: “A zealous covenanter who fought at Bothwell Bridge."
His baronetcy was of Nova Scotia, created for his distant relative (Robert?) on 5th Nov 1673 but descended to the latter's heir male as he had no sons.
________________
He and Elizabeth also had a daughter Elizabeth who apparently married Rev Daniel St Clair (1628- 24 Dec 1684) and amongst whose children was Arthur St Clair (23 Mar 1734 - 31 Aug 1818), an eventual President of the USA from 2 Feb 1787 to 29 Oct 1787. I await some evidence for the connection.
