SP Vol XI, p. 76 and Dundonald Vol III, p. 340: Rochsoles was acquired by Patrick Cochrane in 1579 may be descended from [Cochranes of?] Barbachlaw.
There is a snippet in Notes and Queries 1930 CLIX, 193 by R A Cochrane with the title “Cochrane of Rochsoles”.

The L:yon Register has this entry in Volume I, folio 270, as certified by Elizabeth Read, Lyon Clerk and Keeper of the Record on the 28th January 2002:
Master William Cochran of Rocksoills descended of a second brother of Balbarchan. Bears, Argent a Boars head erased and in chief a Crescent betwixt two mollets disposed cheveron-ways azur. Above ye shield ane helmet befitting his degree mantled gules doubled argent.
Matriculated 1672-1678.
