Notes for John Shawe Phillips
His death record is not to be found on FreeBMD. Nor is there any notice in The Times.
But in 1861 his widow recorded herself as such and showed her youngest child Louisa to be 4 years old, thus born in 1856 or 1857; unfortunately her registration cannot be found to give any better precision. Anyhow this gives that John Phillips died somewhere between 1855 and early 1861.
VCH for Oxfordshire says there is a memorial to him in the village church giving 1859 as his death year.

He, and Anna, are on the 1841 census and the handwritten source says he was ‘Ind’, of independent means.:
