Notes for Frances Anne Shawe
Burke’s Commoners had given her a death date of 26 June 1824.  As ever with Burke, this is not correct and is more likely to be the death date of her husband, John Phillips, confirmed initially by an entry in the Gents mag for 1824, volt, p. 94.  (Thanks to Bridget Maier for informing me of this.)

Bridget Maier added:

“She remarried to Mayow Short, barrister at law (see Gentleman's Magazine vo 158 page 426) in 1865. Interestingly, he was the elder brother of Augustus Short who married her daughter Millicent Clara later that year. I found that quite strange in the light of the approach taken by the Church of England at that time which didn't permit the marriage to a deceased wife's sister, because the first marriage had created the equivalent of a blood relationship.

“Anne Frances then had another child Frances Shawe Millet Short, born London 1837 and christened Warblington Hants. In 1859 she married George Herbert Hale (an Indian Army widower who had lost his first family at Lucknow), had three daughters and died in 1890.

“Meanwhile, Anne Frances Short died before Mayow Short remarried in 1847 in Jamaica to Annis Rachel Panton. He then had another 11 children between 1849 and 1866 before dying in 1869. As a result Frances Shawe Millet Short had siblings born over half a century.”
