Notes for William Cunliffe Shawe
Of Southgate House, Middlesex, of Singleton Hall, Preston, Lancs and of Kesgrave Hall, Suffolk.
In 1808, Alumni Oxoniensis reports him as living at St James, Westminster and an armiger.
Did he also have a son Robert Newton who went to Exeter Oxon in 1802? Yes, by 1st marriage. So: in 1802 he was at Preston, Lancs.
The Shawe line by his first marriage died out with his son who dsp.
The Shawe line of the second marriage was surviving in 1952 (Burke's Landed Gents) but it looked as if it was dying out, though possibly reverting to a line from a younger son of this marriage.
