Notes for Thomas Hampden
From the 1634 Visitation of Bucks, p. 68:

Hit was so that there was a Commission at Hampden directed as a Commissioner to helpe put out ye Danes which was before ye Conquest  And sithen hath descended divers Knights and Squires of ye name as one Sir Alexander Kampden Knight which had issue John and Edmund, the said John dyed without heire of his body wherefore his borther Edmund was heire which took to wife the wife of Sir Robert Stowe that was daughter of Belknappe the Judge and she had issue by ye said (Robert) Stower one Thomas Stowe of whom descendeth ye Sto(nes: Stoners) unto this day.  And when shee had ye said Edmund married, they had issue John Hampden and Sir Edmund Hampden Knight and a daughter named Isabell, which was mar. to one Wroughton.  There was a Knight in Cornwall called Sir John Rayle which had 2 sons and a daugh.  The daughter was mar. to Sir John Whaylesborough by whom hee had a Sonne named Thomas and 4 Daughters Emayne Anne Elizabeth and Alice.  The said Tho. Whaylesborough had issue a daughter, that was his heire which was mar. to Tho. Trevillian of whom descendeth the Trevillians unto this day, the said Emayne married the Lord Scalys (Seales) and died without issue.  The Sayd Anne mar. ye Lord Molynes, And Elizabeth was mar. to John Hamptden of Hampden Esquire and A(l)ice married Chamberlayne of whom descended ye Chamberlaynes to ys day.  of the abouesayd Anne came Eleanor which was married to the Lord Hungerford And they had but a daughter called Mare, and shee was mar. to my Lo. Hastings, Elizabeth was mar. to John Hampden son and heire of the said Edmund Hampden and had issue Tho, Hampden Eliz. mar. to Eversby, Eleanor mar. to Arderne, Anne mar. to Putnam, issue to this day, and when Sir John Rayle was dead his wife mar. a Knight whose name was Sir John Boroughwash (Burrowash) and by him had 2 daughters, one one mar. to Mr Chawser and by him had one daughter that was married to Sir John Phillip(s) and after to ye Earle of Salesbury, and after to ye Duke of Suffolke, the other daugh. of Sir Jo Burwash was mar. to Sir John Arundell of the west of whom descends the Arundells unto this day.  There was a Knight in Wiltshire called Sir Stephen A Popham nad hee mar. ye daugh. of Sir Owen Knight and by her had 3 daugh. Marcherye Elizabeth and Alice, The said Sir John Gowen (Owen) had issue a Sonne called Vmfree and a Daughter called Bettrys (Beatrice) which was wife of ye said Sir Stephen A Popham and mother to ye said Marcherye Eliza(beth) and Alice (abouesd).  The siad Sir Vmfre Gowen (Owne) had issue a Sonne called John, which John had Issue 2 daughters Vrsula and Mary, Vrsula was mar. to Sneyvill (Snequell) of Suffolke and never had issue.  Mary was maried to Sir David Owen and that had a sonne and then Mare dyed.  Also if the said child should decease the land of the said Sir John Bowen (Owen) which is 3c lib [300 libra, probably means 300 pounds per annum] and better should (must) descend to the heires of Sir Stephen A Popham Knight Margere Eliz. and Alice and  (as) for default of Issue male to the heire generall, the said Marchery daugh. of the said Sir Stephen A Pophame was mar. to Tho. Hampden sonne and heire of John Hampden of Hampden Esquire and they had issue John Edmund Edward [? Edward] Francis Alexander and Harry, there was one William Sidney who had 2 daugh. that were his heires one was mar. to John Jampden sonne and heire of Thomas Hampden abovesaid the other daugh. (mar:) to Sir William Woodhall Knight.  The said John Hampden had issue three sons John William and Anthony, the said John son and Heire of the said John Hampden mar. Sir John Savage his daughter servant to ye Archbishop of Yorke, which Sir John Savage was slayne at ye siege of Bullen (Bulloine) in Picardy.  Elizabeth dau. to ye aforesayd Sir Stephen A Popham marryed to John Barentyne of whom descendeth ye Barentynes to this day.  Alice the 3d daughter of Sir Stephen A Popham was mar. to Sir Humfre Fostre of whom descendeth ye Fostres to this day.  Also ye sayd Sir Stephen (A) Popham Knight married another Gentlewoman, by whom hee had a daughter and hee mar. her to Sir John Wadham Knight of whom descendeth ye Wadhams to this day.

In his will dated October 18 1482, he lists:
