Notes for Rev John Savile Hallifax
Birek’s 1879 Landed Gentry says he had another daughter Ellen who then lived in solitary state at Chadacre Hall. FreeBMD shows an Ellen Hallifax who d. aged 81 in Q3 of 1878 in Sudbury district, vol 4a, p. 315. But other sources make this Ellen to be John Savile’s sister. That same Burke entry also showed a first dau for John Savile, one maria; but no such record is to be found and again it looks like Maria was in fact the daughter of Thomas Hallifax and thus the brother of John Savile; The Burke entry is a mess!
