Notes for Capt Meyrick Archibald Trotter TD
At marriage in 1915 he was a Captain in 6th Bn of Norfolk Regt. Sounds a bit senior for wartime service alone; I wonder if he was in the regular army?
In 1918, at his sister’s marriage, he was still a capt.
In the Medals archive on The National Archive site, he is down as a capt with Victory, British medals. His first war posting was to France on 18/1/18.
In 1934, he was co executor and representative for his father’s will, from the Admon of 29 March 1934. So he was living then. So far the deaths indexes have been searched from 1934 to Q3 of 1973 with no sign of his death.
Also in the Admon he was at that time, 1934, a commercial representative living at 82 Athelstan Road, Exeter, Devon.
April 2008, TFPL: In 1943 he obtain Administration for probably his son Robert Meyrick Trotter who had been killed in action, leaving no will and a mere £236-13-2. R.M.T has been confirmed on the Commonwealth War Graves web site so now added to database and his will ordered.
Anyhow at this Admon, he was referred to as Capt Meyrick Trotter, os obviously he had been able to join up again for WW2.

On his birth certificate, he was originally named Meyrick alone but it says that Archibald was added after registration. His mother, correctly named, was the informant of The Vale, May’s Hill, Shortlands, Beckenham, on 16th June 1884.

In the 1901 census he and his brother Stuart were both in Byron House of harrow School, aged 16 and 14 respectively.
Will notes for Capt Meyrick Archibald Trotter TD
In the Probabe Office index, it gave his death and that probate was granted to the sole executor, his nephew Hugh Stuart Stucley Trotter, on 26 Oct 1976 for £1,123.
In his will, dated 20th Jan 1970, he listed:
His nephew Hugh Stuart Sticley Trotter,
H J Lawrence of Beresford Cottage, Forncett, St Peter, Norwich,
Emily Pratt of Springfield, St Like, Surley Row, Emmer Green, Reading,
His wife Grace Harriett Trotter of Fort Wonford Street, Exeter,
Ethel Neale of Park Lodge, Faldouet Gorey, Jersey Channel Islands
Mr & Mrs George Gillie of 1 Long park, Woodbury, Exeter.
After a life interest to his wife, his nephew Stuart was the residual legatee. But if his wife died first, £2,000 was to go to Ethel Neale.
