His death date, which Burkes volumes show as both 1831 and 1841 is down as 1841 on an old Trotter family tree of which I was given a copy in June 2003.

FreeBMD has a death record for a George Welbank whose death was registered in Q1 of 1839 in Nottingham district, vol 15, p. 376.  It would be interesting to see the death cert but not worth the present-day cost; perhaps I shall wait until the whole thing has been digitised by HMG.  There is no doubt but that he died before his sister inherited Horton Manor in 1868 and from the terms of the odd will, his death was long before that.

See the section on Wills for evidence that he died circa June 1842.

In 1832-4 Pigot’s Sussex has this entry:

“Welbank George, esq. 32 Cannon place”
_______________

Not found in the 1841 census.
_______________

See his Will Notes for the info about his death in Quebec, Lower Canada with a date of 3 Mar 1842.

I have tried every way I can but cannot find any record for his death in Quebec, neither on FindMyPast nor FamilySearch nor some web-sites based in Quebec province.
______________

But Margaret of the Welbank family did find his burial and it states:
Will notes for George Welbank
His will, dated (I think) 9th June 1834 was proved in the 30th Nov 1842 and is transcribed by me as:
