My body to be buried in the ............
I give and bequeath unto Margaret my wife all such goods chattels moveable impliments of household chattels real and person as shall remain in my own custody at the time of my decease.
I do charge my son NICHOLAS to permit and suffer my said wife the aforesaid premises bequeathed.
To my daughter JANE SAUNDER 600 marks to be paid to her on the day of marriage or within one year, until which time I give to each of my daughters 20 marks yearly.
To my daughters ANNE & MARIE SAUNDER 400 marks each at the date of marriage or within one year after marriage.
If it happen my said daughter ANNE do marry the son and heir of JOHN ABRAHALL the younger of Ingston co. Hereford Esquire then my will is that the said sum of 400 [£266] marks be augmented and made £300.
To the poor ancient householders of the parish of Ewell and Ebsham, co Surrey 100 quarters of corn, half of Rye and barley to be distributed by my executor at the rate of 20 quarters a year.
I also give 40/- to be distributed yearly amongst the poor abovesaid until the said 100 quarters are delivered.
To my brother ERASMUS SAUNDER £6. 13. 4 yearly during my executors pleasure and until he be restored with some better living.
To my brother FRAUNCIS SAUNDER a piece of gold of 12/- in token of a perfect reconciliation and forgetting of all matter heretofore passed betwixt him and me.
I do forgive my brother JOHN MYNNE all debts.
To my cousin EDMOND SAUNDER £10 and one of my best geldings.
To my uncle EDMOND LYSLE £5 and one yoke of oxen.
To Lord LUMLEY a piece of gold of 20/- and to my lady his wife a piece of gold of 15/- in token of goodwill and peace in conscience.
To my cousin VINCENT POYNTER my best new pattern doublett and to his wife a new silk grogaine kertie garded with velvett.
To the Vicar of Maldon two old rialls.
To old RICHARD EATON 40/1 yearly during his life.
To THOMAS JONES 40/-. My servant JOHN ROBERTS after the expiration of the present lease which is now in the possession of ROBERT HEYTHORNE of Charlwood shall and under the like rent and covnenant wich the said ROBERT now holdeth the same and enjoy the said farm with appurtenances of 21 years and I give said Robert £3. 6. 8.
I will that THOMAS MILLER do likewise occupy the farm at Charlwood upon such covenants as between us already are and between my son NICHOLAS & him hereafter.
I will that JOHN EATON's due debts be paid and I give him £6. 12. 4. more if he marry JANE GOWLDSMITH on of the daughters of JOHN GOULDSMITH of Cheine, co. Surrey aforesaid Yeoman.

I desire my said son HARRY SAUNDER after the decease of MARGARET my wife to have and enjoy the manner of Parrockin the countie Sussex (as regd. will) with all lands tneements and hereditaments commonly reputed taken let out and cooupied together with or part or parcel of the same in the county Sussex.
I appoint my said son NICHOLAS SAUNDER sole executor.

Overseers: The Right Honourable Sir William Cecil Knight, Lord High Treasurer of England to whose protection I commend & commit my said son NICHOLAS.
          Sir FRANCES CAREW of Beddington co Surrey Knight the other overseer.

In the presence of these under-written by me EDW: SAUNDER who uppon my pervseing [perusing?] of the first notes taken my me at Ebsham and written their verbatim at my cosen your father's warmest request for his own last will and testament in the presence of Mr EDM: LYSLE yourself and divers others.  And so my good cousin not doubting that your childlike and dutiful consideration will supply any defect either of you fathers remembrances or of my warrant now lefte behind him being departed I leave you to God in all you good dispositions &c.  Your LO: cosen and reddy fiend  EDW: SAUNDER.

Proved 18 Jan 1587 by NICHOLAS SAUNDER the executor named in the will.
