Notes for William Wheatley
Paul Willoughby writes, 15 Nov 2009:

“The younger William Wheatley (cousin of Caroline Girle)
had a son (his youngest child) by the name Leonard Lewin Wheatley who,
with a Mary Dawson, fathered an illigitimate child, Sarah Susannah.
Sarah Susannah assumed the last name of her mother and thus became
Sarah Susannah Dawson.  Sarah Susannah married John Whyman and had a
number of children including Leonard Frederick Whyman whose daughter,
Doris Gwendolen Whyman married John Jeston Willoughby.  Doris and John
had a single child, John Whyman Willoughby who is my father.  My
family connection to Leonard Lewin Wheatley is documented in a family
tree hand drawn by my grandmother, Doris.  We also inherited the
Wheatley crest in the form of a signet ring which my father wears, and
which he subsequently had made for his three sons.”
