Notes for Alfred Docwra Turner
In the 1881 census he was living with his parents at 26 Lancaster Road, North, Hornsey, Middlesex, aged 1 and born in Middlesex (presumably Hornsey).

Did he have a son Elphinstone Turner, otherwise known as Tony?  This Tony was a cousin of Ian Rennie Turner, lived in Cornwall and worked for Nestlé of Switxerland.

No death can be found on FreeBMD up to 1910. but this is of the right age:

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol  Page

Deaths Dec 1926
Turner Alfred D 47 Truro 5c 126

FreeBMD gives in Q4 of 1903 an Alfred Docwra Turner m. either Sarah Ann Amos or Adeline Bertha Thomas at Rochford, Essex, vol 4a, p. 1042.  I dare say that I will only find which it was when the 1911 census comes out in 1912, though I could, at no small charge, order his marriage certificate.

Further FreeBMD has a birth of a son in 1904, doubtless his and his wife’s:

Births Dec 1904  Turner  Elphinstone Docwra   Basford  7b  269

I think this Elphinstone Docwra Turner was known in adult life as ‘Tony’, being a cousin of Ian Rennie Turner.

TFPL, May 2009: He is on the 1911 census and living at Larus Cottage, Porth St Columb Minor, Cornwall with his wife, son and a general servant.  He was 31, born in London and a Supervisor Bromtir (?) Services at Gold Coast Colony, a civil servant.

His wife was Adeline Bertha, aged 32 married for 7 years, had two children only one of whom survived. She was born in London.  See above as this means her maiden name was Adeline Bertha Thomas.

Their son in 1911 was Elphinstone Docra, aged 6 and born in Burton Joyce, Notts.

There are scores of Turner - Thomas births after 1911 and I have no idea if any were for more children for Alfred and Adeline.
