Ant this vague notice on FinMyPast led eventually to this excellen ‘Registration of Death’ form on Ancestry.  This form gives 100% confirmation, by its date, that this is the right person and adds to it by naming his wife.  If we are lucky we may be able to find if they had any children’  The forms has on it:

It says on his death registration that he had spend 72 years in Canada, so he got there when he was 16.  So it is mos likely that he married in Canada.  Further he had been in B.C. for 59 years, since he was 278 or so.  So he might, or might not have married in B.C.

In the 1921 census he and Christina were farming at Salt Spring island, British Columbia and with no apparent children.

He said his mother was born in Ireland, which looks liken where her family came from but she always reported she was born in India.
