I may have to buy their marriage certificate but a look at the odd census may help. A useful piece of information from the 1939 census is that Alice’s birth was on 15 Jun 1876. And this led straight to this 1911 result at Hillside, Hilly Fields, Rye, Sussex:

On the handwritten form it says for Alice that she had been married for 8 years with no children.
I wonder if there was a convenient arrangement going on here?
Anyhow the problem appears now to be resolved. In 1911 Alice was married to a Waterlow, so her maiden name was Pollock.
The divorce case between Alice and Sydney was made decree final on 10th Jun 1912 and that the marriage was then declared null and void. TNA ref J77/1046/1706.

The above leads firmly to Alice’s birth index, giving her second name and her mother’s maiden name:

The first of these is the most likely as the birth year is precisely that given for the 1939 Register and that on her birth index, and the death location is where she and Orlando had been living.
