In 1901, she was a one-year-old with her elder sister with no parents to be seen but an army of staff at 40 Devonshire Place W, St Marylebone, London:

The form was signed by the butler.  I get the impression that each of the staff entered their own name.

Note that this record says that Beatrix was born in 1910 in London, so the above brith record for Japan has to be rubbish.

But what does 1939 say?

BP records for her in the Longford article that her mother was Lilian Blanche Georgiana Ashley and for Beatrix “Beatrix Helen Constance; b 3 Jan 1910; m 17 July 1929 (divorce 1943) Lt-Col Nigel Victor Stopford Sackville, and has issue (see COURTOWN, E)”

This clearly indicates that her birth index was:

Name:            Mother's Maiden Surname:
PAKENHAM, -      ASHLEY
GRO Reference: 1910  M Quarter in ST MARYLEBONE  Volume 01A  Page 435

She had only one, elder, brother and one, elder, sister.

She was a gt-gt-granddaughter of the 2nd baron Longford and thus rather remotely related to the Pakenhams who have Powys ancestry.

Unremarkably I had failed to investigage LIonel Geoffrey’s family, though I had done Venetia’s, so this was a welcome fillip to do Lionel’s.
