Notes for Mary (Smith)
I have not yet found what he maiden name was.

Her step-grandson Anthony relates:

“… Mrs Mary Smith, widow, who eventually became entitled to and possessed of the estates of her Uncle Giles Cutting Esqr of Hoveton S Peter in Norfolk, who died in the Fleet prison in London and left his estate overloaded with debt. By great sacrifices on my Grandfather's part, as well as by good man- agement and frugality, he cleared the property of incumbrances; and his wife, having no near rela- tions, devised it to him and his heirs.”

She just might have had the maiden surname of Cutting.
