I’ll await the arrival of their marriage certificate to see it this ties up with his age and father on that.
Later: At marriage on 3 April 1971 he said he was 25 and that his father was Harold Hodgson, a solicitor. This age means he was born in 1945/6. And the above birth index looks very much like his.

I have seen a note on Wikipedia that he is also a professor and has a Who’s Who article.

His parents were Harold R Hodgson and Celia F Hodgson who married in Westminster in Q2 of 1940.
Celia F Hodgson appears in the 1939 register, living at St Thomas’ hospoital and born on 4 Mar 1913. No Death index found but the Probate Indix gives a death date as 4 Apr 2005.
A Harold Hodgson died on 8 June 2005. But the death and probate indices show 15 harold Hodgson death from 2000 to 2019.
