_______________
From the 1851 census - see the Notes for his son Robert - he was born in 1774 in Buckton, Yorks. No baptism has been found so far, not even on FindMyPast’s collection of some 5 million Yorkshire baptisms, though they do have this tempting entry:
First name(s) Phillip
Last name Beinton <-- Say that aloud in a Yorkshire accent?
Baptism year 1775
Baptism date 26 Feb 1775
Baptism place Bempton
Denomination Anglican
Father's first name(s) Robt
Mother's first name(s) -
County Yorkshire (East Riding)
Country England

But I can’t find this entry on the accompanying image of the pages of the parish register.
Ancestry’s transcription of the same birth includes that the father was Robert, but still no sign of an image of the register page.
However FindMyPast does now have the image of the register page and the transcript no is, by me:
[Bempton, Yorkshire]
“1775
“. . . .
“ Phillup son of Robt Bointon Baptiz’d February 26th”
_______________
He and Jane had five children baptised in Yorkshire, all in Burton Agnes:
First name(s) Last name Baptism year Father's first name(s) Mother's first name(s) Baptism place County
Robert Boynton 1798 Phillip Jane Burton Agnes Yorkshire (East Riding)
Phillip Boynton 1800 Phillip Jane Burton Agnes Yorkshire (East Riding)
William Boynton 1803 Philip Jane Burton Agnes Yorkshire (East Riding)
Hannah Boynton 1807 Philip Jane Burton Agnes Yorkshire (East Riding)
James Boynton 1809 Philip Jane Burton Agnes Yorkshire (East Riding)
The son Philip married in the 1820s.
It looks like there was no schooling in the Burton Agnes area. Three generations of Boyntons and their wives all signed their marriage registers with a mark (X):
1797: Philip and Jane
1821: Robert and Margaret
1853: Robert and Mary
