Notes for Emma Kershaw
She was reported in both the 1901 and 1911 to have been born in Rochdale, Lancs. But in 1901 she was reported to be 36, giving a birth year of 1865, and in 1911 she (presumably) filled in the form to say she was 43, giving a birth year of 1868. I am inclined to think the 1911 entry is more believable. The census was on 2nd April 1911, when she said that at her last birthday she was 43, So she was born anytime from 3 april 1867 to 2 April 1948. So a search is made for the Emma Kershaw births from 3 April 1867 to 2 April 1868 and in Lancashire, preferably near Rochdale.
But there are no registrations that fit that criterion. So we don’t know where or when she was born.
There is nothing that looks like her in the 1939 register, though she could have died or remarried by then.
There are plenty of Emma Kenyon deaths after her last public record of the 1911 census but there is nothing to say which might be hers.
