Notes for John Breedon
Alumni Oxoniensis has this entry:

“John, s. Thomas, of Moreton, Berks, cler. St John’s Coll., matric 5 July 1726, aged 17; created D.C.L. 3 July 1754, then of Bear Court, Berks.”

This looks very much like this John; he was born in 1708, his father had died in 1718 so his mother and children probably moved to Moreton where his father came from.

Alumni Oxoniensis has also:

(1) a John Breedon, s. John of berecourt, Berks, matric 3 Oct 1760 aged 18.  This sound very much like a son of the above.

(2) a Henry Breedon, s. John Symonds,, of Bear Court, Berks, doctor. matric 3 Dec 1810, aged 19. Recgtor of Pangbourne: 1817-1845 when he died.

From the Victoria County History of Berks (see his father’s Notes), he inherited Pangbourne manor from his uncle, another John Breedon, who had died in 1711.

The deeds of ‘Breedon family of Bere Court, Maidenhatch and Pangbourne’ are held by the Berkshire Record Office as:

National Archives has a Will of a  John Breedon of Pangbourn , Berkshire
Dated 14 December 1776.  I have ordered this.

John’s will explains all...  In it he includes this sentence (roughly):

“... to Joseph Bellas, George Bellas and Charlotte Bellas Sons and Daughter of my said half sister Margaret Bellas the sum of one huyndred pounds apiece the legacys to the sons to be paid at the age of twenty five years and the legacy to the daughter to be paid at the ago of twenty one years or day after marriage which shall first happen but without interest in the meantime...”

This makes it evident that RCLP-L was right and that Jane Lybbe did indeed marry William Harvey but only as her second husband.

Will notes for John Breedon
In his will dated 20 Sept 1776 and proved on 14 December 1776, he named:

his dear wife Elizabeth,
his son John Breedon, unmarried in 1776,
his friend Henry Symonds,
his friend Rev Henry Wilder, clerk,
John the son of Henry Symons,
his half-sister Margaret Bellas,
Margaret’s son Joseph Bellas,
Margaret’s son George Bellas,
Margaret’s daughter Charlotte Bellas
His daughter Catherine Reade, wife of Rev John Reade of Stephens Green, Oxfordshire,
His sister jane, Munday widow.

He referred to estates in hertfordshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and kent.

He had a complex scheme by which the estate would descend between the eldest sons of his son John and John Symonds in preference to any younger sons.  The estate owner must adopt the name of Breedon or theestate is to be forfeit.  In default of any such heirs, it is to go to the heirs of his body.
