Notes for Thomas Bartholomew
In 1871 census as born in Ashley.
In 1971 he was stated to be 14 years old.
In 1861 his brother Jonathan was stated to be 4 years old, so apparently born at the same time.
But Jonathan does not appear in the 1871 census. I just wonder if he changed his name from Jonathan to Thomas? Supporting this is the fact that his mother had children at roughly two year intervals, so a less than a year gap between Jonathan and Thomas is unlikely.
If the above is right, then this child entry should be deleted. The only birth registration in Newmarket of a Thomas was born in Q3 of 1853. As yet I am not curious enough about this to order his birth certificate. There were no Thomas Bartholomew or Bartholemew births registered in Suffolk from 1851 to 1861.
There were no Thomas Bartholomew or Bartholemew deaths in Cambs or Suffolk from 1861 to 1881.

TFPL, Dec 2018: there is absolutely no birth of a Thomas Bartholomew with a mother’s maiden name of Seal in the new GRO indices from 1851 to 1859. It is looking more likely that this entry should be deleted.
