________________
In 1871 Caroline was with her sister Mary and Mary’s family in the rectory at Pattiswick, Essex; there were three daughters there, including Charlotte above, all in their 20s. Mary’s husband was rector of Patteswick, Percy Smith aged 67 and born in Chichester, Sussex.
In 1881 Caroline was with a (new) sister Maria at Pendell House, Bletchingly with five servants. Looks like Caroline died in 1887 in Godstone.
In 1891, Caroline not found but Maria was with a Battersby family who said she was their aunt and probably the wife Elizabeth K Battersby was her niece. But I can’t work that out from the marriages in the ten years before their first child.
It looks like Maria died in Godstone in 1897. How was she related to the Battersbys?
There is a Jarvis who died in Godstone district in 1838.
