Notes for Esther Beaumont
At her marriage in 1906 she gave her age as 27 and her father’s name and profession as unknown.  In the 1911 census, it looks as if she made her own entry as it is in a different hand to her husband’s line which is the same as his signature.  So she was probably asked to put in her own details and she wrote that her place of birth was unknown, though she was a British subject.  So either she was a foundling or she had completely rejected her parents.

There is one Esther Beaumont whose birth was registered in 1882 in Bethnal Green and then appears with the one family in the 1891 and 1901 censuses, but not in the 1911 census.  There is no Esther Beaumont death around London between 1901 and 1907.  But there are four other marriages in the London area of Esther Beaumonts between 1901 and 1907.  So it is difficult to identify who she might have been, a bit of a mystery.

Having said all that, by 1911 she had had no children but then in 1912 had the first of 7 children, if the entries of O’Connor births with Beaumont mothers are all hers, and I can see no reason why they are not short of getting all the birth certificates.

Registered October - December 1906

Oct 2012, TFPL: I have followed Brenda Graham in electing Esther Beaumont as his wife, but as yet I have no evidence to corroborate this.  They are not in the 1911 census (on The Genealogist).

FreeBMD shows these marriages:

Surname   First name(s)   District   Vol  Page
Marriages Dec 1906   (>99%)
BEAUMONT Esther Marylebone 1a 1240
Lawrence Florence May    Marylebone 1a 1240
O'CONNOR Charles Joseph W Marylebone 1a 1240
STOREY Richard James    Marylebone 1a 1240

So it might be worth looking for the other couple in the 1911 census…  But nothing came of that, though a Charles and Florence O’Connor were found in Swindon in 1911 with a marriage four years previously.

There are seven children born to an O’Connor father and Beaumont mother between 1910 and 1940, all in London, and 15 or so to O’Connor and Lawrence in the same period, but all over Britain.  This tends to confirm the O’Connor to Beaumont marriage but to make sure of it, I have ordered a certificate.

18 Oct 2012, TFPL: The cert has arrived and has:

1906. Marriage solemnised at St James Church, Spanish Place, St Marylebone dist, County of London.
