His wife is unknown though it is known that his widow then married Sir Walter de Bickerton and survived until at least 1420.
He was a knight banneret. of which SP says that it was: “a dignity then only conferred for signal bravery under the Royal Standard displayed in battle”.
Prior to receiving Minto, he was known as ‘Sir William Stewart of Jedworth, Knight’.
