The Herald of Scotland newspaper has this report:
“Published on 7 Aug 1989
THE bodies of two students who died in a boating accident were recovered from the sea off Arranmore Island, Co Donegal, at the weekend. Divers recovered the bodies of Matthew Hallifax, son of Admiral Sir David Hallifax, Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle, and Alexander Rickets. They and two other Edinburgh University students were presumed drowned when their dinghy capsized.”
