In the 1861 census (thanks to Jane Nantais), he was married to Fanny E Taddy and they had one child, Edward G Taddy, who has to be Edward Glynn. I suspect they were married abroad. He was a major in the Royal Artillery. Here’s the transcript:

In 1871 his wife was a widow living with her brother-in-law John who was vicar of Dunton. It looks like Edward Glynn was away at school. Anyhow it means that Edward her husband had died sometime between 1861 and 1871; the Army list might help, as might the indexes of overseas BMD on FindMyPast. The Army List did not help, much as it gave his career. But the Regimental book of officers did give his death date precisely.
The army Lists gave his career as follows:
Ensign: 27 Jan 1848
Lieut: 1 Nov 1848
Capt: 1 Apr 1855
Major 2 Nov 1855
He was in the Royal Artillery throughout his career.
