Notes for John Yate
m. (1) Joan Goddard, w/2 s., 4 daus, (2) Alice Hyde, w/ 1s, 8 daus.
The ‘Of Lyford’ in the Latton pedigree in the Berks visitation is in italics, indicated that it was a subsequent addition by Ashmole. This took me to find the Yate pedigrees from the same visitation for the Buckland and the Lyford families. The former entry clearly contains Ann, dau of John Yate marrying John Latton of Chilton. Arms Generally notes for John Yate
The arms of Yate of Lyford take from the alternative spelling or pronounciation of ‘Gate’:
Per pale embattled Or and Gules three gates countercharged, two and one.
