From the Oxon 1566-1634 visitation, in a chapell on the north side of the church [of Baldwin Brightwell], on a brass plate fixed to a tombe:
“Under this tombe lye the bodies of Anthony Carleton & Anne his [first] wife, which Anthony departed the [blank] day of [blank] mo. and Anne departed this mortalle lyfe, the thyrde of April, in the yere of our Lord God, a thousane fyve hundred threescore and two, and had issue then lyving by hyr forenamed husband, one sone and one daughter, whose names are John Carleton and Joyce Carleton. She being one of the doughters of Thomas Perient of Dygomswell in the countie of Herford, Esquyer.”
