No marriage is found for him up to c. 1920 on FreeBMD, as at Mar 2008. In fact he seems never to have married; no wife is mentioned in his will and no children of his are in his will or in the list of grandchildren in the will of his mother; and his residual legatee was his niece Phyllis Trotter, dau. of his brother Balfour.
On his birth cert, No 49 of 1890 of St John district of London, he was born on 7 Oct 1890 at 40a Connaught Street; his parents were Ernest Balfour and Katherine Isabella, née Patteson, Trotter; his father was a solicitor and the informant of 40a Connaught St on 13 Nov 1890.
On his death certificate he was of South Strand Hotel, Angmering on Sea, and a retired actor. He died of (a) Congestive heart failure, (b) Bor. Pulmonale (?) and (c) Chronic Bronchites, all certified by Dr HCC Taylor, MD. The informant on 2nd Hanuary 1962 was his nephew HSS Trotter of 50 Victoria St, London SW1.

In the 1901 census he and his brother Balfour were both at The Grange School, Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone, aged 10 and 13 respectively.

Will notes for Welbank Alan Trotter
The London Probate Office will index gave his death date and place and said he was of The South Strand Hotel, Angmering-on-Sea [Sx] or c/o National Provincial Bank, 61 Victoria St, Westminster. Probate was granted in London on 14 Feb 1962 to Hugh Stuart Stucley Trotter, solicitor, for £8,209-4-11. [Hugh was the son of Stuart Ernest, Welbank’s brother.]
In his handwritten will of 14th Mar 1959, he listed:
His nephew Hugh Stuart Stucley Trotter,
His friend Austin Trevor of 26 Cochrane Close, Cochrane St, NW8,
His niece Phyllis Margaret Trotter.
Phyllis was his residual legatee and Austin Trevor got all articles connected to the the stage.
